Instead of military service — a private house: about 83 servicemen were found at a construction site
Military transport was used to deliver construction materials
In the Odesa region law enforcement exposed the commander of a military unit who, according to the investigation, for several months involved subordinates in the construction of his private house.
During a search of the site, about 83 service members were found performing construction work.
The investigation also recorded the use of military transport vehicles to deliver building materials. The collected evidence, according to law enforcement, indicates the systematic nature of such actions.
The major was detained. Under the procedural guidance of the Odesa Specialized Defense Prosecutor’s Office of the Southern Region, he was charged under part 5 of Article 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The penalty under the article provides for up to 12 years’ imprisonment. The prosecutor’s office emphasized that the law must be the same for everyone regardless of position, rank or authority.
