Odesa in 24 hours: two car explosions — one dead; the second went off as soon as the driver started the engine

In Odesa, two car explosions occurred within one day: in the morning in the courtyard of an apartment building on Semen Paliy Street a driver was injured, and in the evening on July 28 on Nebesna Sotnya Avenue near the Rayduzhny residential area a person was killed; the investigation is being conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine.

According to the outlet «Dumskaya», in the evening a car exploded in the middle of the roadway near the Rayduzhny complex when traffic was heavy, and there is reportedly one fatality; emergency services are working at the scene.

Sources report that SBU investigators are examining the circumstances of the evening incident, while on social media there are speculations about a possible terrorist attack, but there are no official confirmations of that version so far.

Earlier the same day, in the courtyard of a building on Semen Paliy Street, a car used by a service member exploded, and, according to the Odesa regional police, the 49-year-old driver of the crossover was injured at the moment he started the engine and began to move, after which a detonation occurred.

Despite the power of the explosion in the morning incident, the man’s injuries turned out to be minor.

Law enforcement agencies have not yet disclosed the causes of either explosion; the details are being clarified.
