Ukraine and Russia exchanged large lists of missing military personnel and agreed to continue visits to prisoners of war
Lubinets and Lantratova agreed on mutual verification of detained citizens and access to copies of documents in civil cases
During the latest prisoner exchange, representatives of Ukraine and Russia agreed to continue mutual visits to places of detention of prisoners of war and to verify the citizens held in captivity, Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubynets reported after his meeting with Russian ombudswoman Yana Lantratova.
Following the talks, the parties agreed on further steps for cooperation between the Ukrainian and Russian ombudsman institutions, focusing on practical mechanisms for locating and returning people, as well as on legal communication within civil procedures.
- Continue mutual visits to places of detention of prisoners of war to monitor conditions and health status.
- Verify the presence and status of Ukrainian citizens in Russian captivity.
- Exchange requests for the provision of copies of documents in cases related to civil matters.
“We and the Russian commissioner exchanged large lists of servicemen from both sides who disappeared under special circumstances, to verify their presence in captivity,” — Dmytro Lubynets said.
“I emphasize: for me the main result that will help our citizens: those who are in captivity. The missing. Their relatives,” — Dmytro Lubynets stressed.
The ombudsman stressed that coordination with the Russian side in this direction will continue in order to speed up the establishment of the whereabouts of the missing and to improve communication with their families.
