Poles support the deportation of Ukrainian men without legal employment

67.2% of Poles surveyed supported the proposal to deport from Poland Ukrainian men of conscription age who do not have legal employment in the country. This is shown by the results of a IBRiS survey conducted on behalf of the Polish publication “Rzeczpospolita”.

Respondents were asked the question: “Should Poland deport Ukrainian men of conscription age who are not legally employed in Poland?”.

The answers were distributed as follows:

43.8% — “definitely yes”;
23.4% — “rather yes”;
12.2% — “rather no”;
11.2% — “definitely no”;
9.4% — undecided.

Thus, overall the proposal was supported by 67.2% of survey participants. 23.4% were against it.

Support for deportation increases with the respondents’ age:

among those aged 18–29 years — 43%;
among people aged 50–59 years — 80%;
among respondents aged 60–69 years — 79%.

Among women the proposal was supported by 73%, among men — 61%.

The results also differ depending on political preferences:

voters of PiS — 89% support;
voters of “Third Way” — 71%;
voters of “Confederation” — 58%;
voters of “Civic Coalition” — 53%;
among voters of “New Left” 87% were against the proposal.

The survey was conducted on August 7–8, 2026 by telephone interviews using the CATI method. It included 1,073 adult respondents.

The initiative to deport Ukrainian men of conscription age without legal employment was proposed by the Polish party “Law and Justice” (PiS). At the same time, this is so far a political proposal, not an enacted law or a decision of the Polish government.
