A bus on your phone: Mykolaiv is preparing a mobile app for passengers
The municipal enterprise "Mykolaivpastrans" is working on launching an app
In Mykolaiv, the municipal enterprise “Mykolaivpastrans” is working on launching a mobile application for passengers. Digital services are expected to become one of the most noticeable directions in the renewal of the city’s bus transport.
This was announced today, 15 June 2026, during an operational briefing, said the company’s director Dmytro Danilenko.
According to him, the municipal enterprise “Mykolaivpastrans” has already created its own website with GPS tracking of vehicles. Now the company is working on a mobile app for passengers.
For residents, this could become one of the most practical updates: people want to see where exactly the bus is, when it will arrive at the stop, and whether it’s worth waiting for the route. This is especially relevant for remote neighborhoods where public transport is traditionally less frequent.
At the same time, the company continues to update the bus network. The director of the municipal enterprise “Mykolaivpastrans”, Dmytro Danilenko, spoke during the operational briefing about putting new buses into service and organizational changes at the enterprise.
“We put into service 10 new ISUZU buses that had previously been idle for more than six months. We carried out bus branding. We organized a TO-2 maintenance system, which simply did not exist at the enterprise before”, – the director noted.
In addition, last month Mykolaiv launched a new bus route No.49 “mkr. Shyroka Balka — st. Mykolaiv-Freight“. It is intended to improve transport connections for residents of Shyroka Balka, who had repeatedly complained about public transport issues.
The city also plans to extend route No.1 to the port “Olvia”, which is located in the Korabelnyi district. This should strengthen transport links with an important industrial direction.
Separately, the enterprise speaks about drivers’ working conditions. Portable toilets were installed at terminal stops, regular road safety trainings were introduced, and new summer workwear was provided.
However, the mobile app itself may become the service that passengers feel first in everyday life. If the system works stably, residents will be less dependent on rumors, random waiting at stops, and the “where is that bus?” messages in city chats.
For Mykolaiv, where public transport has remained a painful topic for years, digitization should not be just a nice word in a report. Passengers need a real tool: convenient, understandable, and one that truly shows the movement of buses.
