Mykolaiv will not open school camps due to security risks
Extracurricular institutions will operate as usual
In Mykolaiv this summer school camps will not operate due to martial law and security restrictions; this was reported during an online broadcast by the head of the Department of Education of the Mykolaiv City Council, Hanna Lychko, on 30 April, while from 1 July to 20 August on-duty kindergartens will operate.
“Summer is already quite close, but this year we will also not be able to open school camps, because the security situation has not yet improved. Overall we have 64 general secondary education institutions, in which 34 thousand 572 students study,” — said Hanna Lychko.
“This year we will ensure the operation of on-duty preschool institutions. The necessary regulatory framework has already been developed and the relevant decisions of the city council and the executive committee have been adopted. Every child will be provided with a place for the summer holidays,” — said Hanna Lychko.
According to the official, a list of kindergartens that will operate during the summer period and accept children from institutions temporarily closed due to staff vacations has been determined, and out-of-school education institutions in Mykolaiv will continue to operate as usual.
In Mykolaiv there are 28 preschool institutions without their own shelters; the Department of Education is preparing proposals regarding the further operation of such preschools, which are planned to be presented later.
