Minus three kindergartens: the city plans to close preschool institutions, two of them — in Korabelnyi
Reduction of the preschool network: the city is preparing to close three kindergartens
In Mykolaiv, the operation of as many as three preschool institutions may be suspended. Two of them – in the Korabelnyi District. The relevant draft decisions have been prepared for consideration by the city council’s executive committee. This concerns a meeting scheduled to take place on 22 April, 2026.
According to the documents, the following are planned to be closed:
- Nursery-kindergarten No.138 — 79 General Popel Street (Korabelnyi District)
- Nursery-kindergarten No.104 — 59 Torgova Street (Korabelnyi District)
- Nursery-kindergarten No.128 of a combined type — 62-A Admiral Makarov Street
The explanatory materials state that such steps are being taken “with the aim of optimizing the network of preschool institutions”. This is related to demographic changes and the actual occupancy of groups. At the same time, the draft decisions do not specify how the transfer of children to other institutions will be organized and what will happen to the staff of these kindergartens.
Previously we wrote:
- More kindergartens will open in summer, but only with shelters
- The number of children in Mykolaiv kindergartens has dropped threefold
- Another kindergarten is ready for safe stays during alerts: a shelter for 600 children has already been opened
- In Mykolaiv, kindergartens were divided: non-residents — only if space remains
- Kindergarten educators on the brink: without a council decision, additional payments may not be provided
