Plastic — off the coast: young Mykolaiv residents held an eco-cleanup

In Mykolaiv, for City Day, children, youth and members of the organization «Plast Mykolaiv» joined an environmental campaign. They personally cleared part of the coastal area of plastic, household waste and other litter.

The cleanup took place with the support of the Centre for Business Support and Economic Development as part of the EcosySTEM project.

In addition to the direct cleanup, attendees took part in a creative contest. From the collected materials they created crafts and art installations, showing how waste can be given new life instead of ending up in the water or remaining on the shore.

The organizers emphasized the practical and educational significance of such events. Participants learn to treat the environment more responsibly, understand the importance of preserving water resources and look for creative ways to reuse materials.

The initiative was implemented as part of the international project “Empowering Children for Environmental Sustainability through E‑STEM — ecosySTEM”. It is supported by the European Union under the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin 2021–2027 programme.
