Several stab wounds during a family celebration: a man was seriously injured in Mykolaiv region

In the evening of September 12, during a family celebration in one of the villages of the Kostyantynivka community, a verbal altercation arose between an 18-year-old youth and a 35-year-old man. According to the police, the young man stabbed the man several times in the torso. The victim underwent surgery and is currently under medical supervision.

The seriously injured man was reported to the emergency line 102 by his wife. The incident occurred on the premises of a private household. Responding to the call were a crew of the patrol police response unit, the investigative-operational team of Police Station No. 6 of the Mykolaiv District Department, and specialists from the forensic laboratory of the regional police investigative department.

Law enforcement officers clarified the circumstances of the incident after interviewing the guests who were present. At the scene, forensic specialists collected the knife, and investigators seized it as physical evidence and sent it for expert examination.

The 18-year-old suspect was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. With the agreement of the Mykolaiv District Prosecutor’s Office, he was notified of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — intentional grievous bodily harm.

Under this article, the suspect faces up to 8 years imprisonment. A court is expected to decide on his preventive measure in the near future. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
