In Zakarpattia, an 18-year-old man was detained for the murder of his mother: the attack was recorded on a phone

In Zakarpattia, law enforcement officers detained an 18-year-old young man suspected of intentionally killing his own mother. This was reported by the Zakarpattia Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

According to preliminary data, the tragedy occurred at around 3:00 a.m. The young man allegedly attacked his mother while she was sleeping and inflicted stab wounds on her. At the same time he filmed the attack on his mobile phone.

The woman woke up and tried to resist. When the knife broke, the young man took another one from the kitchen and continued the attack. The woman died at the scene from her injuries.

The detained man’s twin brother informed law enforcement about the crime.

During a search, law enforcement seized knives, the phones of both brothers, and other pieces of physical evidence. A video of the attack was also found on the detained man’s phone.

The young man was detained on suspicion of intentional murder. Investigators are currently determining the motive for the crime, the circumstances of what happened in the family, and are checking for possible involvement of other people.

After the initial investigative actions are completed, a decision will be made on whether to formally notify the young man of suspicion.
