Mykolaiv warmed up to almost +39°C: a new temperature record has been set

Mykolaiv region is once again suffering from intense heat

In the Mykolaiv region on 6 August 2026 an extremely high air temperature was recorded. In Mykolaiv and in the area of Berezanka thermometers rose to +38.8°C. This was 7 August 2026 reported by the Mykolaiv Regional Center for Hydrometeorology.

According to the region’s meteorological stations, the highest temperatures that day were:

  • Berezanka – +38.8°C
  • Mykolaiv – +38.8°C
  • Voznesensk – +37.5°C
  • Snihurivka – +37.5°C
  • Pervomaisk – +36.6°C
  • Bashtanka – +36.5°C
  • Ochakiv – +35.2°C

The day was especially hot for Mykolaiv. At the city meteorological station the absolute maximum temperature for 6 August 2026 was exceeded.

The previous record was +38.1°C and was set in 2023. This time the temperature rose to +38.8°C, i.e. immediately by 0.7°C. The comparison was made using meteorological observations for the period from 1945 to 2025.

This is not the first temperature record in the Mykolaiv region this summer. On 30 June 2026 in Mykolaiv the air warmed to +37.9°C, which exceeded the record for that date by 2.5°C, a record that had stood since 1963.

At the end of June record readings were also registered in Voznesensk, Ochakiv and Berezanka. At that time previous maxima were exceeded by 0.8–1.2°C. And already at the beginning of July meteorologists reported that due to prolonged heat the soil surface in parts of the region warmed to +69°C, and the maximum air temperature on the hottest days reached +34…+38°C.
