African air has swept over the Mykolaiv region: temperature records were broken in three cities
The temperature exceeded previous maxima by 0.8–1.2°C
On Sunday, June 28, 2026, a hot air mass from North Africa arrived over Mykolaiv Oblast. Its spread caused a significant rise in air temperatures, and in several settlements of the oblast previous maximum records for that day were exceeded.
The Mykolaiv Regional Center for Hydrometeorology reported the observation results.
According to the region’s meteorological stations, high maximum air temperatures were recorded in Mykolaiv Oblast during that day.
Especially high readings were recorded in Voznesensk, Ochakiv and Berezanka. In these settlements the temperature exceeded the previous maxima established for June 28.
The new readings were 0.8–1.2°C higher than the previous temperature maxima. The previous records in these towns were recorded in 2016 and stood for about 10 years.
The Mykolaiv Regional Center for Hydrometeorology noted that the hot weather in the region will not abate in the coming days. The hot air mass will continue to influence the oblast’s temperature regime.
Residents of Mykolaiv Oblast are advised to closely follow official weather forecasts and use information from reliable sources.
Residents of the oblast are also urged to follow safe sun exposure practices and take care of their health during prolonged heat.
