Ordered phones worth 73,000 hryvnias and fled without paying: incident in Mykolaiv Oblast
The man faces up to ten years
In Pivdennoukrainsk, police detained a 34-year-old local resident suspected of robbing a post office. According to law enforcement, the man took two mobile phones with a total value of over 73 thousand hryvnias without paying for them.
This was reported by the Communications Department of the Mykolaiv Oblast Police.
A report of the incident arrived on the emergency line 102 on the afternoon of 24 June, 2026. The postal worker said that a customer took two ordered mobile phones to examine and headed for the exit with them.
When ordered to stop and pay for the goods, the man allegedly did not respond, ran out of the premises and fled with the gadgets.
After receiving a description of the suspect, officers from Police Department No. 3 of the Voznesensk District Directorate identified him and located his whereabouts within a few hours.
He turned out to be a 34-year-old resident of Pivdennoukrainsk who had previously come to the attention of the police for similar crimes.
The man was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. According to investigators, he managed to sell one of the phones, while the second was found on him by law enforcement.
The detainee was notified of suspicion under part 4 of Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — robbery committed under martial law. The penalty under the article provides for up to ten years’ imprisonment.
The court will soon decide on a preventive measure for the suspect.
