Three killed and seven injured: fatal crash on the Odesa – Mykolaiv highway
Entering the oncoming lane turned tragic: police are investigating a nighttime crash
On the night of August 9 2026 on the highway Odesa – Mykolaiv a fatal road traffic accident occurred. As a result of the collision three people died, and seven others were injured. This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police in Odesa region.
According to preliminary information from law enforcement, a 56-year-old driver of a cargo van was traveling toward Mykolaiv, lost control and entered the oncoming lane. There the vehicle collided with two minibuses that were traveling in the opposite direction. As a result of the accident the van driver was killed, as well as two passengers of one of the minibuses — a 34-year-old man and a 73-year-old woman. Seven other passengers sustained injuries of varying severity. They were taken to a medical facility.
Police are establishing all the circumstances of the accident and are deciding on whether to enter information into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations.
