In Mykolaiv region, a man burned his neighbor's car over a dispute about grazing livestock
The suspect was intoxicated
In the Pervomaiskyi area, police detained a 37-year-old man suspected of intentionally damaging property by arson. According to law enforcement, after a dispute with neighbors he set their car on fire at night.
About this the Pervomaiskyi District Police Department reported.
Notification of the fire was received by police on the night of June 14, 2026. A 55-year-old vehicle owner contacted the Pervomaiskyi district police. She reported that a ZAZ-1102 passenger car was burning on the grounds of a private household in one of the villages of the Myhiivska community.
Rescuers arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire. A police investigative team also worked there.
During the scene inspection, law enforcement officers seized charred fragments and a plastic bottle with traces of an accelerant. All seized items were sent for expert examination.
During initial investigative and operational-search measures, police established that a 37-year-old neighbor of the victim may have been involved in the arson.
According to the investigation, the day before a quarrel broke out between the complainant’s son and the 37-year-old man over grazing livestock. After that, police say, the man decided to get revenge.
According to the suspect himself, at night he entered the neighbors’ yard, poured gasoline on a car wheel and set it on fire.
Investigators detained the man in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
An examination found that the suspect was intoxicated.
Under the procedural guidance of the Pervomaiskyi division of the Mykolaiv Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Defense of the Southern Region, investigators informed the man of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – intentional destruction or damage to property committed by arson.
The article’s sanction provides for up to 10 years imprisonment.
A court will soon decide on a preventive measure for the suspect. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
