Three poachers caught on the Southern Bug River: catch worth UAH 322,000 during the spawning ban
Information has been entered into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations (ЄРДР), and the materials are being prepared for court under Part 1 of Article 249 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine
On the Southern Bug River in Mykolaiv Oblast during the spring–summer spawning ban on May 6, a joint raid by the Mykolaiv Fish Protection Patrol and the police detained three poachers with a large illegal catch; the damage is preliminarily estimated at UAH 322,031.
According to the Mykolaiv Fish Protection Patrol, together with officers of the Voznesensk District Police Department they discovered an inflatable boat on the water and seized 6 fishing nets, with which the offenders illegally harvested 150 bream, 26 silver crucian carp, 1 pike-perch (zander) and 9 river crayfish.
The car with the men was stopped at the exit from the Mykytivskyi quarry area, at the intersection of highway M24 within the Oleksandrivska community of Voznesensk district.
The investigative-operational team conducted a scene inspection and entered information into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations (ЄРДР); the question of opening a criminal proceeding under Part 1 of Article 249 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — illegal fishing — is being considered.
The case materials are being prepared for submission to the court.
