Murder in Mykolaiv region: a shared drinking session at a dacha ended with a knife in the chest

The incident occurred in the evening of May 4, 2026 in one of the garden associations of the Vesnyanska community. The police received a report from a 50-year-old local resident stating that he had committed the murder of his acquaintance.

Investigators from the investigative department of the regional police headquarters, officers from Police Station No. 5 of the Mykolaiv district police department, the forensic laboratory and a forensic medical expert immediately arrived at the scene.

Police established that a conflict arose between the suspect and the 63-year-old victim during a gathering, during which the perpetrator grabbed a knife and struck the victim in the chest with it, after which the victim died.

Investigators detained the perpetrator under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and, under the procedural guidance of the Mykolaiv District Prosecutor’s Office, informed him of suspicion of committing the offense provided for in Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – intentional homicide.

The detainee faces up to 15 years imprisonment.

The weapon of the crime — a knife — was seized by the police and sent for expert examination.

A court will soon decide on a preventive measure for the detainee.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, – reports the Communications Department of the Mykolaiv Regional Police.
