In Kharkiv Oblast, a 44-year-old man will stand trial, accused of the fatal beating of his live-in partner within the Novopokrovska community in March; the woman, because of a plaster cast on the hip area, was bedridden and could not defend herself.
The police reported that the pre-trial investigation has been completed and the indictment has been sent to court.
According to the investigation, a conflict occurred between the suspect and the 42-year-old victim, during which the man inflicted numerous blows on her, and the woman, immobilized by the cast, had no opportunity either to fight back or to avoid the violence.
After the incident the partners went to sleep, but in the morning the victim did not wake up, and an examination determined that death resulted from the sustained injuries.

The proceedings have now been referred to court: the sanction of the alleged article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 10 to 15 years or life imprisonment.
