A Central Asian shepherd dog jumped over a fence and bit an 8-year-old boy in the Mykolaiv region
In Pidlisne, a child is in the hospital in serious condition
September 13 in the village of Pidlisne of the Novoodeska community a dog of the Central Asian Shepherd breed attacked an eight-year-old boy. The child sustained multiple injuries and is receiving treatment in a medical facility under doctors’ supervision. His condition is assessed as serious.
Medical workers alerted the police that the dog had bitten the boy. A detective-operational team from Police Department No. 6 of the Mykolaiv District Police Administration arrived at the scene.
After speaking with the child’s mother and questioning the animal’s owners, law enforcement preliminarily established the circumstances of the attack. The boy was playing on the property near a chain-link fence that separated the neighboring yard from the household plot.
A leashed Central Asian Shepherd was on the neighboring property at the time. According to preliminary information, the dog suddenly jumped over the fence, attacked the child and caused bodily injuries. Hearing the boy’s screams, his mother and the animal’s owner, who were nearby, ran to him.
As a result of the attack the boy suffered injuries to his head and torso. He remains in a medical facility under doctors’ supervision.
The police have opened a criminal case with a preliminary qualification under Article 128 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — negligent serious or moderately serious bodily injury. A pre-trial investigation is ongoing; law enforcement are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
