Dogs broke into the neighbors' house and killed a 79-year-old woman

In Boryspil, Kyiv Oblast, two Cane Corso dogs fatally injured a 79-year-old woman. The attack occurred on the victim’s yard after the animals ran out of a neighboring property. The tragedy happened on 19 June 2026 at about 15:40.

According to preliminary data from law enforcement, two Cane Corso dogs ran out of a private yard through a not fully closed gate. The dogs entered the neighboring territory, where they attacked the 79-year-old homeowner.

As a result of the attack, the woman sustained severe bodily injuries. The victim was hospitalized, but despite the efforts of medical personnel, she died in hospital. The owner of the dogs was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Both animals were seized and taken to a canine center.

Investigators of the Boryspil District Police Department, under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, opened a criminal case under part 1 of Article 119 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – negligent homicide.

Law enforcement is establishing all circumstances of the incident, in particular how exactly the dogs left the property, whether they were properly confined, and whether the owner followed the rules for keeping them.
