The editors of “Korabelov.Info” were sent a video filmed in one of the ATB stores in the Korabelnyi district of Mykolaiv. The footage shows a man walking through the sales floor with an object resembling a hunting shotgun slung over his shoulder.

The man was among shoppers and shelves with goods; the shotgun was not concealed in a case, and the man was dressed in civilian clothes.

In a conversation with the video’s author, the man said he is a serviceman and is coming from Kherson. He also noted that there it is permissible to move around with weapons in this way. After the explanation, the video’s author thanked the man for his service.

The man’s documents were not checked on the video, so the editorial team cannot independently confirm his status as a serviceman, the type of weapon, or the legality of carrying it. It is also unknown whether the store’s security reacted to the situation.

The video prompted active discussion among followers. Some commenters believe the security should have called law enforcement because the visible weapon could have frightened customers. Others emphasize that a serviceman cannot leave issued weapons unattended.

Subscriber Ksyusha believes that the security staff should have reacted.

“The store’s security should have called a patrol.”

User Joker suggested that the man carried the shotgun for self-defense, but called such behavior in a store unacceptable.

“He protects himself from TCK. Otherwise, these days it is dangerous to go out on the street… But walking around the store like that is unacceptable.”

Lyubov: “We understand that he carries it for his own safety. But how are people supposed to react to that — who knows what’s in his head. Is the security just sitting there for their pay?”

Subscriber: “The serviceman from Kherson has returned. You could at least watch the video.”

Pavlo: “He doesn’t carry the shotgun for his own safety; he protects us from drones the enemy launches at minibuses, cars, and people going to work or study… And you shouldn’t run after him and photograph him — you should go to that idiot and help bring them down together with his comrades… Better that photographer stay at home, sit under someone’s skirt and shoot a movie, run around ATB after a fighter like a fool, and ask: is that a shotgun or an airgun?”

Yevhen H.: “Where was he supposed to leave the shotgun — perhaps in a storage locker?”

Subscriber: “Hand it over to the security guard for safekeeping.”

Pavlo: “I imagine this situation: soldiers come into a store to buy mineral water or rolls, five or six people… They gather all the weapons issued to them for the war with the enemy and carry them to the security guard so he can sit by the register and guard it… Meanwhile a photographer runs up, starts filming the guard and posts it all online… What you write is simply ridiculous. People, has our war ended? You see a person with a weapon and create a problem… You should go to Kharkiv or Kherson to see fighters with weapons, or better yet, go with them for a year or two…”

Dima: “Security is trained only to void transactions. I don’t understand why such a system was made, why the cashier can’t cancel an item? They’re wrongly called security; they act as surveillance cameras and administrators. They don’t have the right to detain anyone, only to call the police, or if there is a departmental security company. According to the rules for carrying hunting weapons, it should be in a case and unloaded.”

Lyubov: “What difference does it make where he’s from? He entered the store with a visible combat weapon. Should people applaud? What reaction can society have? Surprise that someone walks around openly with a weapon, and, of course, fear for the lives of their children and themselves.”

Pavlo: “In a case and unloaded — that’s for peacetime… Dima! We are at war! Weapons must be at full combat readiness! If you’re sitting in Poland or somewhere further away and don’t have a war, then this conversation is meaningless… If a drone flies in and you need to shoot it down, and your weapon is disassembled, unloaded, and even in a case, what will you do? What will you say to people who suffered from that drone? Open your eyes, we are at war!”

Natalia N.: “I’ve seen servicemen with weapons in ATB several times. It’s eerie, but they didn’t stand in line; everyone let them go ahead without queuing. They arrived in pairs, by car, clearly combat personnel, not staff. Where else were they supposed to leave the weapons? So they took them with them. Honestly, it’s not a pleasant feeling, it’s scary!”
