In Mykolaiv, the trident "VOLYA" — the city's symbol created by young people and philanthropists — was unveiled
The ceremony brought together government officials and "Niko-Basket", and the venue was conceived as a space for unity and for honoring the defenders
In Mykolaiv on Friday, 14 August, a new art object «VOLYA» was ceremonially unveiled — an installation in the shape of the State Emblem of Ukraine in which the word «VOLYA» is stylized.
The Mykolaiv Regional Council reported the appearance of the installation, specifying that the project was implemented as part of “Youth Week – 2026“.
Attending the opening were the first deputy head of the Mykolaiv Regional Council Ihor Shcherbyna, the acting head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration Heorhiy Reshetylov, youth representatives, players of the basketball team “Niko-Basket” and city residents.
According to the regional council, the structure is executed as a Trident (Tryzub) with the word «VOLYA» graphically integrated, which is meant to emphasize the idea of statehood and become a recognizable urban landmark.
Ihor Shcherbyna emphasized that the installation is intended to embody freedom, strength of spirit, unity and the resilience of Ukrainians and at the same time to remind of those who are defending the country today.
The declared goal of the initiative is to strengthen Ukrainian national and civic identity, to foster a respectful attitude toward state symbols and to create a new public venue for residents for meetings and events.
The regional council also informed that the art object became the joint result of efforts by youth, the public and patrons, and that funds from the regional budget and international partners were not involved in the project’s implementation.
