In the Korabelnyi district of Mykolaiv, inspectors of the State Environmental Inspection of the Southwest District during a raid inspection on 2 June 2026 discovered the illegal placement of animal by-products on a parcel of land.
The violation was recorded while monitoring compliance with environmental protection legislation, when officials were surveying the district territory and documenting possible sources of pollution.
At the inspection site they found compost, the internal organs of slaughtered animals, as well as skulls and hooves of cattle scattered in the open area.
By preliminary estimate, the contamination covers an area of about 400 square meters, which creates environmental risks and may cause secondary soil pollution.
To determine the scale of the impact, specialists collected soil samples and carried out the necessary measurements of the perimeter and area of the contaminated site.
After the laboratory test results are received, the inspection will apply the measures of response provided by law, including holding those responsible to account and organizing proper waste disposal.
At present, the circumstances of how the animal-origin waste appeared are being clarified and possible persons involved in the unauthorized dumping are being identified.
