In Korabelnyi, a man hit a woman inside a car, took her phone and drove off in her car
The suspect was found in less than an hour; he had already managed to sell the phone
September 3 on Korabeliv Avenue in Mykolaiv a man, according to investigators, struck an acquaintance in the face, took her mobile phone, forced her out of the car and drove off in her vehicle.
The victim, a 38-year-old, contacted the police. Patrol officers, an investigative-operational team and staff of Police Station No. 3 of the Mykolaiv District Department, which serves the Korabelnyi district of the city, arrived at the scene.
The woman described the attacker. Based on that description, law enforcement officers found him on one of Mykolaiv’s streets in less than an hour.
The suspect turned out to be a 36-year-old Mykolaiv resident who had previously been held accountable for similar crimes. By that time he had already sold the stolen phone.
The man was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Under the procedural supervision of the District Prosecutor’s Office of the city of Mykolaiv, he was notified of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — robbery in conditions of martial law, combined with violence that is not dangerous to the health of the victim.
This crime carries up to 10 years of imprisonment. The court remanded the suspect in custody without the possibility of bail.
The police are also checking whether the detainee may be linked to other crimes. The pretrial investigation is ongoing.
