In Mykolaiv, a court has taken into custody the seller of three humanitarian SUVs
The buyer acted under law enforcement supervision; the 49-year-old suspect from Kazanka pleaded guilty
In Mykolaiv, an investigative judge of the Central District Court chose a preventive measure for a man suspected of selling SUVs imported as humanitarian aid for the Defense Forces — detention with the right to post bail in the amount of 266 240 hryvnias.
According to the press service of the Central District Court of the city of Mykolaiv, a motion was considered regarding a 49-year-old resident of Kazanka, suspected of a criminal offense under part 3 of article 201-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The investigation indicates that the man gained access to three SUVs of the Mercedes, Toyota and BMW brands, which were imported without payment of customs duties as humanitarian aid for the needs of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
Subsequently, the suspect posted advertisements to sell these vehicles online and sold them for 13 500 US dollars to a person who was acting under law enforcement control; after the transfer of the funds he was detained.
At the court hearing the man pleaded guilty but objected to granting the motion for a preventive measure; the defense insisted that his actions were allegedly aimed at helping the Armed Forces and asked to deny the motion, citing the lack of substantiated risks.
After weighing the parties’ arguments and the case materials, the court concluded that detention with bail set at 266 240 hryvnias was necessary.
