Russian shelling of the Mykolaiv region: damages from air pollution in just one month - over 3.5 million UAH
Fires caused by attacks have affected ecosystems across an area of 1.55 hectares
Based on inspections and on information from the Main Department of the State Emergency Service in the Mykolaiv region, in April 2026 15 damage assessments of damage caused by air pollution due to shelling were carried out, – reported on May 5 by the State Environmental Inspection of the South-Western District.
Fires caused by the attacks affected ecosystems across an area of 1.55 ha. Ignitions also occurred in residential buildings and public places in several communities of the region; small business facilities, retail establishments, transport and energy infrastructure were damaged.
The total amount of calculated damage from the fires for April is over UAH 3.5 million. The volume of emissions into the atmosphere reached 1153 tonnes, of which 1140 tonnes were carbon dioxide.
The collected data are being systematized and used for further documentation of losses caused by the armed aggression initiated by the Russian Federation.
