A day through firefighters' eyes: a garage, trash and a building not in use caught fire in Mykolaiv
Dry-season fires begin: Mykolaiv region recorded 8 fire outbreaks in 24 hours
During May 3, 2026, eight fires were recorded in the Mykolaiv region. According to rescuers, half of them occurred in the residential sector.
In the village of Oleksandrivka of the Horokhiv community in Bashtanka district, an outbuilding caught fire. The flames covered an area of 70 sq.m. Another structure burned in Mykolaiv — there the fire area amounted to 5 sq.m.
Rescuers also extinguished blazes in buildings that are currently not in use. Such fires occurred in the village of Kinetspil of the Pervomaisk community in Pervomaisk district, where the fire spread over 30 sq.m, and also in Mykolaiv — over an area of 10 sq.m.
Other calls were mostly related to the burning of garbage, dry vegetation, reeds and shrubs. In the warm season such fires quickly spread across open areas and can jump to buildings, power lines or private households.
In Mykolaiv four fires occurred over the past day. A garage, garbage and an unused building burned, – the city council clarified.
In total, during the day, State Emergency Service (DSNS) deployed 44 rescuers and 11 special vehicles to extinguish the fires. Firefighters from the local fire protection unit of the village of Oleksandrivka also went out to help.
