Sold prohibited child pornography: man taken into custody
Telegram as a platform for crime: police have once again exposed a dangerous scheme
In Kyiv, law enforcement officers exposed a 26-year-old resident of the Kyiv region who is suspected of possessing and distributing prohibited content involving children. The Kyiv Police reported this on April 28, 2026.
The man’s criminal activity was documented by investigators of the Holosiivske Police Department together with operatives from the migration police unit of the capital’s main directorate and under the procedural supervision of the Holosiiv District Prosecutor’s Office. During the investigation it was established that the 26-year-old suspect stored videos of child pornography on his messenger account and used Telegram channels to look for “clients” interested in purchasing such content.
During investigative actions, police examined the suspect’s computer equipment. As a result, evidence of storing prohibited materials was seized, and confirmation was obtained that they were further distributed through one of the messengers. Investigators notified the man of suspicion under Part 2, Part 3 of Article 301-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine– possession of child pornography for the purpose of distribution and its distribution. The court imposed a pretrial detention measure on the suspect. For the offense he faces up to 12 years imprisonment.
