A 15-year-old schoolgirl inflicted stab wounds on her classmate
School fight "grown-up style": police and psychologists are dealing with the stabbing
In Ternopil, law enforcement officials are investigating a serious incident between two underage girls. April 27 2026 at 15:12, emergency medical personnel contacted the police emergency line and reported that in one of the apartment buildings in the “Novyi Svit” neighborhood a 15-year-old schoolgirl inflicted knife wounds on her classmate.
The injured girl was hospitalized at a medical facility and placed in the intensive care unit. According to the police, during one of the stabbings a fragment of the knife remained in the victim’s body.
At the scene, an investigative-operational team and juvenile police officers worked. Law enforcement officers and psychologists spoke with the girl suspected of the attack. They are currently determining what exactly caused the conflict between the schoolgirls and how the argument escalated to knife wounds. Following the incident, investigators opened a criminal case under Art. 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine marked as “attempted murder”.
Law enforcement officials separately appealed to parents, urging them to pay closer attention to their children’s emotional state, their social circles, and conflicts that can remain unnoticed by adults for a long time. The police emphasize: a timely reaction to children’s quarrels can prevent tragedies.
