Ukrainian actor from Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Rudynskyi, starred in the international film “The Island of Snakes” alongside Adrien Brody and Sean Penn. He shared his impressions of working with Hollywood stars with journalist Anna Sevastyanova on a new episode of the show “Alone with Glamour”.

The film was directed by Doug Liman, and its plot focuses on the events surrounding the bombing of the Nord Stream 2 pipelines. The crew worked in Bulgaria and Croatia.

Meeting Adrien Brody on set meant a lot to Rudynskyi: he had followed the American actor’s work for a long time. Working together, he found Brody to be not only a talented actor but also a pleasant person to talk to.

“He is one of my favorite actors,” Oleksandr Rudynskyi said of Adrien Brody.

Among the Ukrainian actor’s most vivid memories was a scene shared by Brody and Penn. He was waiting for his cue at the time and had a chance to watch the filming.

“Between them, they have five ‘Oscars.’ And I was sitting there on my headphones, just listening to them act. Sometimes they stumble over their lines. Just so you understand, they’re real people,” Oleksandr Rudynskyi said.

According to the actor, the team studied the Ukrainian context of the story in depth. Doug Liman worked on the script himself and could rewrite individual scenes right during filming, so the cast had to adapt quickly to changes. Working out at sea was another unusual challenge for Rudynskyi: that was where he first experienced seasickness.

The Ukrainian actor wanted to talk with Sean Penn about the film “One Battle After Another”, as he also follows Penn’s work. During their meeting, the American actor gave him a pack of cigarettes. And, as Rudynskyi said, Adrien Brody contributed to a fundraiser that the Ukrainian actor had told him about.

At the same time, the actor is unsure whether “The Island of Snakes” will be released on schedule. He hopes to see it premiere in 2027, but suspects that the political context could affect the film’s future.

Rudynskyi emphasized that he supports Ukraine’s position on the bombing of the Nord Stream 2 pipelines. According to him, Ukrainians and Germans view these events differently, and this difference may also affect how the film is received.
