Trump expects a quick meeting with Zelenskyy and Putin
The U.S. president did not name a date or location for possible negotiations
US President Donald Trump is hoping for a quick meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin. He expressed this expectation on the morning of October 28, speaking with journalists about resolving the war in Ukraine. The press briefing was broadcast.
At the same time, the US president did not name a specific date or location for a possible meeting. His response also did not make clear whether the parties had agreed to hold it or on the terms of their participation. He did not disclose any other details about the possible talks.
Trump linked the prospect of a meeting to his assessment of progress in the negotiations:
“I think we’ve made significant progress in our relationship with Russia — in the context of Russia and Ukraine. A meeting will take place soon, and, in my opinion, significant progress has been made,” said US President Donald Trump.
Journalists asked him specifically which meeting he meant.
“A meeting with President Putin and President Zelenskyy. And I think significant progress has been made,” Donald Trump added.
