A ceasefire has been announced near occupied Oleshky for a humanitarian mission
The mission is being carried out with the mediation and coordination of Melania Trump
A ceasefire has come into effect to allow a humanitarian mission to operate in certain areas near the temporarily occupied city of Oleshky in the Kherson region. It began at 03:00 on October 27 Kyiv time, or 04:00 Moscow time.
Dmytro Lubinets, the Human Rights Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, said that the parties were honoring the agreements reached by the heads of the negotiating teams. He separately confirmed that the Ukrainian side was meeting the agreed terms.
The humanitarian mission is being carried out with the participation of:
- Yana Lantratova, Russia’s human rights commissioner — the mission is being conducted jointly with her;
- Melania Trump, the U.S. first lady — she is facilitating and coordinating the process.
The ombudsman promised to keep the public informed about the mission’s progress. He will pay particular attention to the safety of civilians in Oleshky and compliance with the agreed terms.
The EU has called for humanitarian access to occupied Oleshky.
