Zelenskyy: Ukraine’s military limitations and neutrality are not up for discussion
Kyiv also rejects a territorial swap
Ukraine will not agree to limits on the size of its army or to neutral status as part of any possible peace deal with Russia. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy outlined this position in an interview with Alla Mazur for the program “TSN. Tyzhden”.
The issue is not only the size of the military: Kyiv is also not considering limiting its own defense capabilities.
“Our security guarantees are our security guarantees; they cannot be dictated by the Russian side. Limits on our army and Ukraine’s neutrality are not up for discussion,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed.
The president named the territorial issue as a separate red line. He said that only the leaders of the countries could discuss it.
“The Americans have been raising the issue of exchanging territories for a long time; they call it land swaps,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
At the same time, the head of state emphasized that Ukraine does not consent to a territorial exchange. Being willing to discuss possible proposals does not mean agreeing to such a move.
