Ukraine will soon receive $841 million in budget support from the World Bank under guarantees of the Government of Canada. This was announced on 14 September 2026 by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhii Koretskyi.
The financing will be provided under the PEACE in Ukraine project. According to the prime minister, the money will be directed to reimburse state budget expenditures related to pension payments.
“In the context of a budget deficit and the imbalance of public finances, this is an extremely important and timely support”, – said Koretskyi.
The prime minister thanked Canada and the World Bank for financial assistance to Ukraine.
The PEACE in Ukraine project has been operating since 2022 and allows mobilizing funds from international partners to cover key government and social expenditures. According to the World Bank, as of 31 July 2026 the total amount of financing mobilized under PEACE amounted to about $53.5 billion.
Previously, through this mechanism Ukraine had already received international financing that was directed, in particular, to pensions and other social expenditures. In June, €236 million was transferred to the state budget from the World Bank under a guarantee from Sweden.
