Police officers in Mykolaiv took the daughter of a fallen colleague to her first lesson

Festive balloons, new school supplies, a long‑awaited meeting with school friends — but all of this without a loved one nearby. Today nine‑year‑old Polina is accompanied to the educational institution by her mother and police officers – colleagues of her father, Hero, Police Captain Yevhen Holota.

The law enforcement officer faithfully served in the ranks of the internal affairs bodies for 12 years. One of the first to take up the defense of the country during Russia’s full‑scale war, he joined the rifle battalion of a special police unit. Unfortunately, last October, while carrying out a combat mission in Donetsk, Yevhen Holota received a fatal wound during an enemy artillery bombardment.

Today, 1 September, on the Day of Knowledge Polina is going to school for the first time without her father. In the morning juvenile prevention officers from the regional police headquarters met the schoolgirl outside her home and, after giving useful gifts, took her to the first lesson.

– No one can replace a father for a child, but it is within our power and our duty to be beside the family, to support them and to preserve the memory of our colleague, – says Senior Inspector of the Juvenile Prevention Department Natalya Boyko.

Juvenile police officers wished Polina only excellent grades in her diary, success in her studies and good health, emphasizing that she and her mother can always count on support and assistance from the police family.
