In Donetsk Oblast, 39-year-old senior lieutenant of the Mykolaiv region police, Stanislav Smirnov, was killed by a drone strike
In 2024, he headed the explosive ordnance disposal section of the rifle battalion and had nearly 17 years of service under his belt
On Saturday, 23 May, in eastern Ukraine a police officer of the rifle battalion of the Mykolaiv Region Police, Senior Lieutenant of Police Stanislav Smirnov, was killed as a result of a drone strike, the Mykolaiv Regional Police reported.
It is reported that the tragedy was announced on the police’s official Facebook page, outlining the circumstances of the death and information about the officer’s service.
According to the agency, the incident occurred in Donetsk Oblast, where the officer received fatal wounds as a result of a UAV strike while carrying out his duties.
In 2024 Stanislav Smirnov joined the rifle battalion, heading the unit’s explosive ordnance disposal section, and carried out both service and combat tasks, remaining loyal to the Ukrainian people.
“Stanislav Smirnov will forever be 39. He is survived by his mother. For almost 17 years Stanislav served in the ranks of the internal affairs bodies, holding various positions in special-purpose units and the explosive ordnance disposal department,” the Mykolaiv Regional Police said.
