In Mykolaiv, the municipal enterprise “Parks” warned of a possible shutdown of the fountain in Metalurhiv Square in the Korabelnyi district due to repeated contamination by soil, the company said on its social media page after another cleaning of the structure.
According to the enterprise, staff have had to clean the fountain and restore its operation for the fourth time in a short period after soil got into the basin.
In an appeal to residents of the Korabelnyi district, the municipal workers emphasized that in case of further vandalism and negligent behavior they are ready to completely stop the facility’s operation in order to put an end to the ongoing expenditure of resources on its cleaning.
The published video shows how soil from the flowerbeds around the fountain ended up in the water, which again requires a complete cleaning of the system and additional work by staff.
The municipal enterprise urged residents to protect public space so that the fountain remains available for recreation and continues to operate without interruptions.
Just the day before, 16 June, the municipal enterprise “Mykolaiv Parks” reported another case of vandalism near the same fountain: planted flowers were torn out of the decorative bowls and soil was thrown into the water, causing the structure to lose its proper appearance.
