In Mykolaiv, unknown persons pulled petunias out by the roots that had been planted in two city flowerbeds. At the municipal enterprise КП “Mykolaiv Parks” stated that the flowerbeds had been tended for several months by the enterprise employee Oksana, who could not hold back tears when she saw the results of her work destroyed.

The municipal enterprise reported the damage to the flowerbeds in a video statement.

According to the employees, since spring Oksana watered the petunias daily, removed weeds, and monitored the condition of the flowerbeds. КП “Mykolaiv Parks” urged residents to take care of public amenities.

“These two flowerbeds did not appear by themselves. Behind every flower were hours of hard work, daily watering, weeding, and a sincere love for the craft.

Ms. Oksana has personally tended these flowerbeds since spring. She came every day, pulled weeds, and rejoiced at every new flower. She put not only effort but a piece of her soul into them.

But there were people who, in a matter of minutes, destroyed what had been created over months. The flowers were mercilessly pulled out by the roots.

This act brought Ms. Oksana to tears. And these tears are not because of the flowers. They are because of human indifference. When you do your job with love and put your heart into it, it is very painful to see someone mindlessly destroy the results of your work.

We appeal to all city residents: protect what is created for you. Respect the work of the people who make Mykolaiv better every day.”.

The exact locations of the damaged flowerbeds are not specified in the enterprise’s statement.

This is not the first such incident in Mykolaiv. In April 2026, law enforcement identified a 52-year-old man who pulled out flowers and coniferous plants in the Square of the Council of Europe and on Flotskyi Boulevard, after which he sold them to passersby.
