In Odesa region, nine men from the Regional Territorial Recruitment Center (RTCC) were detained for torturing and sexually assaulting people liable for military service
During searches, rubber batons and hammers were seized; the court remanded all suspects in custody without bail
In the Odesa region, law enforcement detained a group of RTsK employees and civilians involved with them, who are suspected of torture and the illegal deprivation of liberty of those subject to military service, the State Bureau of Investigation (DBR) reported.
Investigators established that, in order to artificially increase mobilization figures, 6 servicemen organized an illegal scheme to forcibly deliver men to recruitment centers and to hold them there.
They involved 3 representatives of a local civic organization in this activity, who helped track citizens and collect their personal data.
DBR officers documented numerous episodes of cruel treatment: victims were illegally held in recruitment center premises, beaten, intimidated, and subjected to psychological pressure.
In addition, investigators recorded isolated cases of sexual violence against the victims.
During searches, law enforcement seized rubber batons, hammers, and other items that, according to the investigation, were used to exert physical force on people.
So far, 9 members of the group have been detained and charged under Part 3 of Article 127, Part 2 of Article 146, and Part 4 of Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The court has ordered pretrial detention for all suspects without the right to post bail.
