Carpathians instead of air-raid alarms: 100 children of defenders from Mykolaiv region sent on vacation
The children will spend two weeks in the Ivano-Frankivsk region
A second group of children from Mykolaiv Oblast set off for recuperation under the project “Carpathian Shift”. This was reported on 16 June 2026 by the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration (OVA).
This concerns 100 children of Ukraine’s defenders who will spend two weeks in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast.
The children can expect active recreation, sporting events, new acquaintances and vivid impressions. For the little ones from frontline Mykolaiv, such a trip is not just a vacation, but an opportunity to, at least for a time, get away from explosions, air raid alerts and the constant strain of war.
Acting head of the Veterans Policy Department of the Mykolaiv OVA, Natalia Moroz, noted that it is important for the region to give the children the chance to be in a safer environment and recover emotionally.
“It is important for us that our children take a break from explosions and constant alarms. We are very grateful to the organizers and everyone implementing this project, in particular the leadership of the Ivano-Frankivsk OVA. And we very much hope that this project will be continued next year.”
Head of the Mykolaiv OVA, Vitalii Kim, also reported the departure of the second group of children for the “Carpathian Shift”:
“This is how yesterday we saw off one hundred Mykolaiv children for the second session of the ‘Carpathian Shift’. I wish the children a good rest over these two weeks, I thank the parents for everything they do for our country. And we continue to work.”
The “Carpathian Shift” project is aimed at the recuperation and rehabilitation of children from families of Ukrainian servicemembers. For Mykolaiv Oblast, which lives daily alongside the consequences of Russian aggression, such trips carry special significance.
