In the central part of Kherson on the morning of June 9, a 67-year-old municipal service worker was blown up by a Russian pryanik-type mine; the injured person with severe injuries was taken to hospital.

The Kherson Regional Military Administration (OVA) reported the incident, clarifying that the explosion occurred at about 10:50 when the man accidentally stepped on an emplaced explosive element.

According to medical data, the victim was diagnosed with a mine-blast injury, a closed traumatic brain injury, a concussion, and traumatic amputation of the foot.

After the explosion, the municipal worker was promptly evacuated to a medical facility, where doctors are providing the necessary care.

Law enforcement and emergency services urge residents of frontline settlements to be extremely careful, not to touch unknown objects, and to immediately report suspicious finds to the 101 or 102 hotline.

The pryanik mine is half the size of the Pelyustok mine, which Russian forces previously used to mine areas, but more powerful: it contains about 30 grams of Plastid (plastic explosive), which is enough to sever a foot. Its diameter is approximately 5–6 cm, and its shape resembles a puck or a lid, making it hard to notice on the road or in the grass.
