On the Russian-appointed head of the occupied Kherson region reported the temporary closure of the bridge from Henichesk to the Arabat Spit after a morning missile strike attempt; traffic across the crossing is suspended.

According to him, in the morning Ukrainian forces tried to carry out a missile strike on one of the bridges connecting Henichesk and the Arabat Spit, after which the crossing was closed to inspect the condition of the structures and ensure people’s safety.

He also said that specialist services are working on site to determine the details of the incident and assess possible damage to the supports and spans, and that traffic across the bridge is temporarily suspended until inspections are completed and further operational decisions are made.

The situation is unfolding against the backdrop of recent strikes on the Chongar Bridge — one of the key links between the occupied part of Kherson oblast and Crimea. After the attack on 7 June traffic there was restored in an alternating (reversible) mode, but following a renewed drone attack it was again stopped.

After traffic through Chongar was halted, the occupying authorities recommended using alternative routes via Armiansk and Perekop, redirecting traffic flows to those directions until further instructions.

Details of the statement and the notice of the closure were published on his Telegram channel at: https://t.me/SALDO_VGA/15857.
