They fixed the roof and pulled the grandmother off the balcony: Mykolaiv rescuers were everywhere again
In Mykolaiv, State Emergency Service workers do more in a day than some do in a week
As reported on 7 May 2026 by the Mykolaiv City Council, during the day rescuers in Mykolaiv carried out several tasks related both to the aftermath of enemy attacks and to everyday emergency situations.
Firefighters extinguished fires of dry grass and UAV debris. Such fires remain dangerous for the city, because after Russian attacks even fragments of shot-down or fallen drones can cause new ignitions in open areas.
Separately, rescuers continued assisting residents whose homes were damaged as a result of shelling. According to the city council, they installed 95 sq. m of roofing damaged by the enemy attack.
In addition, specialists cut up a hazardous tree, helped medics transport a patient to an ambulance, and also rescued a grandmother who had become trapped on a balcony.
For Mykolaiv, and in particular for the Korabelnyi District, such daily deployments of rescuers serve as a reminder: because of the war the city lives under constant danger, with services responding not only to fires but also to the aftermath of shelling, destruction, hazardous trees and situations where people cannot get themselves out of danger.
