Rabies and leukemia in animals and sick bees: an affected site has reappeared in Korabelnyi District
Not just cats and cows: bees have also been added to the list of problems in Mykolaiv
The Main Department of the State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection in Mykolaiv Oblast has published a list of locations affected by contagious animal diseases in the territory of Mykolaiv Oblast as of 1 May 2026. The information was published on 5 May 2026.
The list includes cases of bovine leukosis, equine leptospirosis, bovine rabies, cat rabies, dog rabies, and bee nosematosis. Especially for residents of Mykolaiv it is important that some of the affected locations are urban addresses. In particular, cat rabies was recorded in the Zavodskyi District of the city of Mykolaiv.
Also listed is the Korabelnyi District of the city of Mykolaiv. It was here, on Metalurhiv Street, that bee nosematosis was recorded. This means that the problem of contagious diseases among animals and insects concerns not only the remote communities of the oblast but also the city districts themselves. Bee nosematosis in Mykolaiv was also detected in the Central District — on Aviatsiina Street and Verkhniy Street.
Bovine leukosis was added to the list at the private farm “Maslyanogo” in the settlement of Kazanka, Bashtanskyi district.
Equine leptospirosis was recorded at a branch of the SE “Pivdennyi plemkonecentr” of the SE “Koniarstvo Ukrainy” in the city of Mykolaiv, Mykolaiv district.
Bovine rabies was reported at the kolkhoz “Prometey” in the village of Kavkaz, Bereznehuvata hromada, Bashtanskyi district.
Dog rabies was recorded in the settlement of Kryve Ozero, Kryvoozerska hromada, Pervomaiskyi district.
Thus, as of 1 May 2026 the affected locations cover both the oblast’s communities and the city of Mykolaiv itself. For city residents this is another reminder that vaccinating pets, being cautious with stray animals, and paying attention to official notices from the veterinary service remain critically important.
