Intoxicated and without a license: a driver in Mykolaiv was detained after a call from concerned citizens
A call may have saved someone's life: police stopped a driver showing signs of intoxication
In Mykolaiv, citizens’ vigilance helped patrol officers identify a driver who, according to police, may have been behind the wheel while intoxicated. The incident occurred on April 27 2026, at about 17:00.
Patrol officers received a report about a Chevrolet whose driver was allegedly drunk. After some time, the inspectors located and stopped the said vehicle on Bohoyavlenskyi Avenue. During the conversation with the driver, the police noticed clear signs of alcohol intoxication. The driver was offered to undergo an on-site sobriety test in the manner prescribed by law, but he refused. In addition, it turned out that the man was driving the vehicle without the right to operate vehicles, as he did not have a driver’s license.
The patrol officers suspended the driver from driving and drew up administrative materials against him:
- a report under Part 1 of Article 130 of the Code of Administrative Offences – driving a vehicle while intoxicated;
- a ruling under Part 5 of Article 126 of the Code of Administrative Offences – driving a vehicle without the right to drive.
The patrol police thanked concerned citizens for the timely report, which could have prevented a tragedy on the road.
