Fines up to 11,900 UAH: businesses in Korabelnyi checked for compliance with the language law
Experts inspected 23 institutions
In the Korabelnyi District, trade and service establishments were inspected for compliance with language legislation. Some entrepreneurs were reminded of their responsibility.
Between 20 and 24 April 2026, specialists from the Department of Trade and Entrepreneurship Coordination of the administration of the Korabelnyi District of the Mykolaiv City Council conducted inspection raids of trade and service establishments.
The inspections concerned compliance with the requirements of the Law of Ukraine “On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as the State Language”.
In the territory of the Korabelnyi District, specialists checked 23 establishments. As a result of the raids 2 violations were found, and another 1 business entity was given a warning. One establishment was not conducting business activity at the time of the inspection.
During the raids explanatory conversations were held with entrepreneurs. They were reminded that outdoor advertising, announcements, signs, signboards and other publicly displayed textual, visual or audio information about goods, works or services must be provided in the state language.
Businesses were also reminded that Ukrainian is the language of customer service in Ukraine.
Business entities were warned about administrative liability for violations of the language law. If an entrepreneur refuses to bring their activities into compliance with the requirements of the legislation and continues to violate citizens’ rights, the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language may issue a warning or apply penalties.
According to Art. 188-52 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (КУпАП), for a first offense a warning or a fine from 3,400 UAH to 8,500 UAH is provided. For a repeated offense within a year the fine ranges from 8,500 UAH to 11,900 UAH.
