In Mykolaiv, two objects from the Soviet era have officially been stripped of their status as cultural heritage monuments. These include the monument to the proletarian poet Oleksii Hmyryov and the memorial known as “Monument to the Fighters for Soviet Power”.
The corresponding decision is закреплено by order No. 358, which was published by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.
According to the document, the decision to remove these objects from the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine was adopted on March 13, 2026.
The monument to Oleksii Hmyryov is located in University Square at the intersection of Vadym Blahovisnyi Street and Artilleriyska Street.

Another monument is located at Admiralteiska Square in the park named after the 61 Communards. In official documents it was listed as the “Monument to the Victims of Armed Conflicts of the Ukrainian Revolution of 1917–1921”, although in the city it is known as the monument to the fighters for Soviet power.
Both objects received the status of monuments of monumental art of local significance in 2019. Now they have been officially removed from the register and have lost their protected status.
This means that these monuments are no longer protected by the state as cultural heritage sites.
