He killed five Ukrainian soldiers and spent the night in an outdoor toilet: Russian national detained in Kharkiv region
Seven years in a Russian prison, the war against Ukraine, and suspicion of murdering five soldiers
A Russian serviceman suspected of killing five Ukrainian defenders has been detained in the Kharkiv region. After the attack, the man hid in an outdoor toilet, leaving his rifle and a backpack with belongings there.
This was reported by “Glavcom,” citing video of the detainee’s interrogation.
According to the Russian, after the attack he hid in a yard toilet, where he spent the night. He left his rifle and a backpack there, which, he claims, contained a phone, a charging cable, and two energy drinks. During questioning, the man initially said he had killed four Ukrainian servicemen, but later allowed that he might also have been involved in the death of a fifth defender.
The detainee also said that he had previously served a sentence in Russia. According to him, he spent seven years and five months in prison before joining the Russian army and taking part in the war against Ukraine. After the attack, the man claims, he planned to make his way to Kharkiv, where he wanted to settle and find work.
The attack took place on October 13 in the village of Momotove in the Kharkiv region. According to the Security Service of Ukraine, the detainee is a 36-year-old Russian citizen and a serviceman of the Russian army’s 1009th Motor Rifle Regiment. He was detained within a day of the crime. Law enforcement officers are also checking whether he may have been involved in the murder of a local resident.
