Three more condominiums in Mykolaiv have upgraded their heating systems to pay less for heat
In one condominium association, residents covered 20% of the costs
In Mykolaiv, another 3 condominiums have modernized their buildings under the Enerhodim program. The completed work makes it possible to adjust heating based on the weather and reduce heating costs.
The following work was carried out in the buildings:
- individual heating substations were installed;
- heating pipes were replaced and insulated;
- balancing valves were installed.
Thanks to the modernization and weather-based system controls, heating costs are expected to fall by an average of 30%. This is a projected economic benefit, not savings that have already been confirmed.
Kateryna Srebniuk, the head of one of the condominiums, said that before the upgrades, the building’s heating system was in poor condition because it used salty water. This resulted in frequent breakdowns and additional repair costs.
She said the terms of Enerhodim and the municipal program made it possible to fund the modernization of her building as follows:
- 60% — a grant from the Energy Efficiency Fund;
- 20% — compensation from the municipal budget under the “Reform and Development of Housing and Communal Services in Mykolaiv” program;
- 20% — the residents’ actual contribution.
“It should also be noted that the Revolving Fund program run by the Energy Efficient Cities of Ukraine association proved to be a real find and a source of financial support for us. This successful combination of programs produced the best possible result. We conducted an energy audit, developed a project, found a professional contractor, commissioned a technical specialist to inspect the work, and carried out our plans in the shortest possible time,” said condominium head Kateryna Srebniuk.
This condominium plans to continue modernizing its building and to keep using the tools provided by national and municipal programs.
