More than 11,200 square meters of land were cleared of mines in Mykolaiv
International experts found five explosive devices during inspections
Humanitarian demining was carried out at two sites in Mykolaiv. The mayor, Oleksandr Sienkevych, presented the results of work in the third quarter. Demining of urban areas is ongoing.
According to the mayor, international partners play an important role in keeping the community safe. Specialists from DanChurchAid and Norwegian Church Aid surveyed and cleared the sites, with the following results:
- more than 10.3 million sq. m of territory surveyed;
- five explosive devices found during the work;
- more than 11,200 sq. m cleared at sites within Mykolaiv.
At the same time, the community continues its mine-safety awareness campaign. Specialists held 275 information sessions, reaching more than 2,500 residents.
“Thank you to our partners for this important work and for supporting Mykolaiv,” said Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych.
The mayor also reiterated his call for Mykolaiv residents to follow basic safety rules if they come across suspicious objects and to call 101 or 102 immediately.
